Weed Is Starting To Get SUPER Bougie In Chicago, A Little Too Bougie

weed dinner party

(Chicago Tribune)–Marijuana supper clubs in Chicago: ‘It’s not … some kind of criminal enterprise going on here. It’s a dinner party.’

The tables were set and the candles lit. Bouquets of baby’s breath were arranged on black tablecloths, and menus rested atop each plate.

Table for Twenty was hosting its first event of the year. Wearing cocktail party attire, diners who paid $115 for a ticket sipped drinks and enjoyed a five-course meal.

But this wasn’t your typical private dinner club event. At every place setting, a joint was placed neatly next to the silverware and the food and drink was infused with cannabis.

Marijuana is coming out of the shadows, as more states look to legalize the drug for recreational use and the stigma eases. Perhaps nowhere is that more evident than in food, as weed matures from its college-dorm-pot-brownie reputation into a respected ingredient in fine dining. Exclusive, cannabis-infused supper clubs like Chicago-based Table for Twenty are popping up around the country.

Weed must be getting the clicks because it seems like every other day one of the big papers in the city is running a new story about marijauna. We get it, Chicago, you blow fat clouds

Weed isn’t even legal in Illinois yet and people are already trying to be fancy assholes about it. I typically love fancy shit. I just don’t like fancy people and hosting a Cannabis dinner party for 20 people and they have some snooty butler uncover a single joint on a silver tray. That’s obnoxious. Just smoke it and enjoy your meal. It’s too early in the process for people to act like they smoke weed better than you. That they’re dignified because they put on a jacket and everyone else is just a pothead. This is what happens when people over 40 try to be too cool with weed. They turn into assholes just like wine snobs. Which I suppose might be better than people who are old and trying to smoke weeda and relate college kids
