As An Eagles Fan, I Can't Wait To Start Being Able To Enjoy Odell Beckham Jr

New York Giants v Philadelphia Eagles

So a lot has been said about the Odell Beckham Jr trade already. We’ve heard from Giants fans. We’ve heard from Browns fans. But we haven’t heard from the most important fanbase in the NFL yet. Which is, of course, the Philadelphia Eagles fans.

Well let me just say this right now–I couldn’t possibly be any happier about this trade. And it’s not because the Giants have decided to keep old ass Eli Manning while also getting rid of their best wide receiver. It’s not because life just got so much harder for Saquon Barkley. Don’t get me wrong, I love to see the Giants get worse. But the real reason I’m over the moon about this trade?

For the first time ever, I’ll finally be able to actually enjoy watching Odell Beckham Jr make ridiculous catches in the NFL.

I truly don’t think people realize how difficult life has been for Eagles fans over the last few years. I mean sure, the Eagles won Super Bowl LII, have one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the league, just brought back Desean Jackson and will be loaded for at least the next 5-10 years. But while all that was going on, here we were being absolutely tortured by the fact that one of the most electrifying football players in the world was a member of a division rival. Can you imagine what it’s like being forced to hate this guy just because of the uniform he wears? Even if you hate the dude’s personality, you simply cannot go your entire life watching him make superhuman plays on a football field and try to convince yourself that you don’t enjoy that shit.

But now Philly fans won’t need to lie to ourselves anymore. Because not only is Odell Beckham Jr not a Football Giant anymore, but he’s out of the NFC entirely. And there’s not a single thing that anybody in Philly could possibly have against the Cleveland Browns. Maybe there will come a day when it’ll be the Eagles vs the Browns in the Super Bowl, but I’m almost positive that the sun will engulf the planet before that day arrives. So the only time Eagles fans actually have to dislike the guy again is what? Like week 2 or 3 of the 2020 season and then that’s it? Sounds good to me.

It just feels good, ya know? Like a weight has been lifted off our shoulders. The past 5 years have been excruciating. Even in those last 2 years where the production wasn’t quite as superhuman as it was in his first 3 seasons. But that’s over now. And it feels fantastic to stop trying to convince myself that I don’t love watching this man play football.
