Want To Feel Old? It's Been 22 Years Since Allen Iverson Crossed The Shit Out Of Michael Jordan

First off, realizing this happened 22 years ago has me feeling old as shit. That’s starting to happen more and more as all of these big time moments of my childhood now have their 20+ year anniversaries, but this one hit me hard. You’re lying to yourself if you’re around my age and you didn’t try to replicate the Allen Iverson crossover. Sure it looked nothing like the real thing, but in your mind you were nailing it. I cannot tell you how many hours were spent at the JCC trying to perfect that move. I’m sure it looked ridiculous but that wasn’t really the point. Even as someone who doesn’t even like the Sixers, Allen Iverson was such an influential player during his prime that it was impossible not to like him. He was unlike a lot of what the league had at the time, nobody could stop him and obviously he was a culture shock for the league. As someone who didn’t really have a growth spurt until my like junior year of high school, watching someone who was tiny by NBA standards tear up the league was inspirational as hell.

But of all the Iverson highlights over his HOF career, I’m not sure it gets better than when he crossed up Jordan. In fact, hearing Jordan talk about it postgame was the closest I think I’ve ever heard him to admitting he got handled, and even then it was in classic Jordan fashion

You hear Iverson talk about that play all these years later it’s pretty clear how big of a moment it was for him given what Jordan did for his career in terms of motivation to be the best and all that

The list of players who can successfully say they got the best of Jordan certainly isn’t all that long, and I’d be lying if watching that clip didn’t send me down an AI rabbit hole and what type of blogger would I be if I didn’t share it with you fine readers to give you something to avoid working. Enjoy
