WE'RE GOING STREAKING! B's Score Twice In The Final Minute To Beat Panthers And Extend Point Streak To 18 Games

Florida Panthers v Boston BruinsStop me if you’ve heard this before, but the Boston Bruins rallied from a two-nothing deficit and defeated the Florida Panthers for their 5th straight win.

Point streak: 18 games.

After a scoreless first period, Sasha Barkov tipped a shot from Keith Yandle to open the scoring. Brandon Carlo was in the box for high sticking. 1-0 Panthers.

Four minutes later, again on the PP, Jonathan Huberdeau exended Florida’s lead to 2. 2-0 Panthers.

At 10:29 of the 2nd, David Krejci got the Bruins back in it with a nice give-and-go with Danton Heinen. No idea how he got that in the net, but that’s David Krejci for you. 2-1 Panthers.

We head to the 3rd and guess who comes up in the clutch? Patrice Bergeron. Shorthanded. Tie game 2-2. Nice rush by Charlie McAvoy to get it started.

With 10:55 left in the 3rd Jonathan Huberdeau’s spin-o-rama gave the Panthers the 3-2 lead. But this is the Boston Bruins were talking about. You cannot kill them.

David Krejci drew a tripping penalty on Mike Hoffman, and with a minute to go in the 3rd the Bruins PP went to work. Tuukka Rask was pulled for the extra skater and…

37 seconds left… (should have been foreshadowing)… Matt Grzelcyk’s bomb from the point had eyes. TIE GAME ONCE AGAIN. 3-3.

30 seconds later Patrice Bergeron put the dagger in the Florida Panthers. GAME OVER. Noel Acciari with the rush, Brad Marchand with the puck battle win and PB37 terrorizes Roberto Luongo once again.

FINAL: Boston 4, Florida 3

News, notes and quotes:

  • The Bruins are now 14-0-4 in their last 18 games. Unbelievable streak. The 1940-1941 team has gone on a longer streak than this (23).
  • Patrice Bergeron with the shorty to tie and the game-winner. CLUTCH. Great win on the boards by Marchand who set him up.
  • Jake DeBrusk did not suit up. He’s day to day with a LBI. Nothing serious per Bruce Cassidy. Marcus Johansson (lung contusion) also did not play.
  • The lines were mumbo jumbo tonight with DeBrusk and Johansson out. We saw at times Charlie Coyle play with Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron, and we saw Danton Heinen with David Backes and Sean Kuraly. Thought Karson Kuhlman (emergency recall) had a solid game as well.
  • I can’t say enough good things about how great of a season David Krejci is having. 5G, 10A for 15 points in his past 11 games. With a rotation of linemates, too.
  • Tuukka Rask made 22 saves. He’s on an 18 game point streak of his own, he’s 15-0-3 in his last 18 starts. THAT’S PRETTY FUCKING GOOD. 1.93 GAA and a .931 SV%.
  • The Bruins are doing this without David Pastrnak. Reminder: Pasta will be back on the menu soon.
  • No DeBrusk, No Mojo, No Pasta, No Problem.

This team is fun as fuck to watch. They just don’t quit. This team is never dead, never out of games. You blink and they score twice and win the fucking game. I love this team. This fuckin’ team. B’s are back in action on Saturday night, 6 game homestand comes to an end with the Ottawa Senators in town.

IT WAS A GREAT NIGHT TO WIN A HOCKEY GAME!
