BREAKING: Mark Stone Has Been Traded To Vegas Golden Knights

Welp, there it is. The Ottawa Senators have traded Mark Stone in the final minutes of the 2019 NHL trade deadline to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for D Erik Brannstrom, F Oscar Lindberg, and a 2020 2nd round pick.

In 59 games this season, Stone has 62 points (28g, 34a) and is a UFA at the end of the season. So I’d likely expect Stone to be a rental, but who knows. A playoff run can change someone’s mind real quick.

According the Darren Dreger, defenseman Erik Brannstrom is the key piece of the deal going back to Ottawa. The 19-year-old has played 41 games with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL this season with 28 points (7g, 21a). Brannstrom is a puck moving defenseman and will hopefully crack the Senators top-4 next season. The Swedish born prospect has been compared to Erik Karlsson and has also been described as an “A+ prospect”.

Stone is only 26-years-old and is entering the prime years of his career, so he’ll sign a nice ole ticket this summer. But until then, he’ll be a huge addition for the Golden Knights on a playoff run.

UPDATE:

Mark Stone has reportedly agreed to a 8-year extension with the Vegas Golden Knights with an AAV of $9mill.
