The Padres Will Have The Best Left Side of the Infield In Baseball In 2 Years And That Could Have Been The White Sox

Fernando Tatis Jr.  Manny Machado.  Short stop and third base.

That is a left side of the infield that straight up fucks.  And it disgusts White Sox fans.

In case you didn’t know, the White Sox traded Fernando Tatis Jr. for James Shields almost years ago:

And in the proceeding years, catapulted to the top of every single top prospect publication on the planet.

Keith Law has him at #1 overall:

MLB Pipeline at number 2 overall:

and Baseball America, behind it’s payroll, somewhere in the top 5.

For James Shields.  Yes, the same James Shields that gave up a dinger to Bartolo fucking Colon a start or two before the trade…

… only to decide to go fully scorched earth in a rebuild a few days months later.

And then, Manny Machado 3 years later signs with the the Padres for 10/$300MM with an opt out after 5 years.  Nice and simple.  No fancy swell-opts or vesting options or other bullshit.  Just nice and to the point.  Give him his money, let him rake for 6-7 years next to Tatis.  Aka they offered him exactly what the White Sox should have.

Knowing that this not only could have been, but should have been the White Sox 3-4 in their lineup and their defensive alignment for the long future has made Sox fans simultaneously vomit for the last week.  Kinda like the brown noise that makes you shit on command.  Hear the names Tatis Jr. and Machado?  Vomit everywhere.

It truly has made me depressed.  This had to be address, but it will also be the last I speak of it.

Glad to get this all off my chest.  NOT
