The Video Of Rami Malek Falling Off Stage Was The Most Memorable Moment Of Last Night's Oscars
Okay in full disclosure, I didn’t watch any of last night’s Oscars because I had to get my daily #67in67 Thrones watch in before my kids broke me down and made me pass out before 9 pm. But based on everything I’ve seen on the blog so far today, I’m gonna go ahead and say Mr. Robot getting sucked into the Upside Down was the most memorable part of the night. Sure Spike Lee trying to walk out of the theater was a moment and Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga eye-fucking the shit out of each other will create a ton of memes.
But that fall video is about as good a fall video as you are going to get when the subject completely drops out of frame and doesn’t give you the climax of recording his face plant. It’s also rare to have the holy trinity of falling of a legitimate free fall, the sound of a perfect thud, and a soundbite like “OH RAMI!!!” all in the same video. That entire sequence is a 14/10 as the youths say on Twitter. I’m sure LiveLeak has some even more extreme examples of this, but they usually end with a death. This was all relatively harmless since Rami was fine and the trophy didn’t break. In fact, I’m sure Rami doesn’t even give a fuck this happened 12 hours later since he’s one step closer to no longer being Mr. Robot to 90% of the world and his agent can now include Best Actor Winner in all his upcoming contract negotiations.

In fact, you can even give this video bonus points for all the haters, of which there were many, that were mad at Rami for winning an Oscar despite lip synching because you apparently need to win a Grammy in order to win an Oscar for your performance as a singer. Anyway, the amount of people that were legitimately angry at Rami for taking home Best Actor getting a video of him falling off stage immediately afterwards had to be satisfying as fuck and a true gift from the Internet Gods, even if this made the haters FURIOUS.
However, if the first person Rami saw this morning said “Have a nice trip? See you next fall”, last night will end up being the worst night of his life. There is no coming back from that burn, ever.
