Jaren Jackson Jr Must Have A Death Wish Calling Out MJ On His Home Turf

Oh no Jaren what have you done. By all accounts Jaren Jackson Jr is having a fantastic rookie season. He’s putting up 13.8/4.7/1.1/1.4 while shooting 50% from the floor in 26 minutes as a starter for the Grizzlies. He’s showing all the promise in the world as a player who is about to become the face of the Grizzlies franchise. But I don’t think he knows what he just did. He came into Charlotte and called out MJ? Saying he could beat him because he’s old? Oh no. If you think for a second that MJ is going to let this slide, you clearly have no idea who Michael Jordan is. It wouldn’t shock me if he was already on his way to go challenge JJJ to a game right now. You think it matters that he’s 55? No chance, this is MJ we’re talking about here. He has no other choice than to lace em up one more time and put Jackson in his place. That’s what the MJ I know would do.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time a young player has called out MJ either. Remember when his own player Malik Monk basically said the same thing at summer league?!?

When asked about this idea a few years ago after declaring he could beat anyone on his Hornets team MJ had this to say

“I’m pretty sure I can, so I don’t want to do that and demolish their confidence, so I stay away from them. I let them think that they are good,”

and if you think anything has changed you’re crazy. Remember it’s not too long ago that a 49 year old MJ beat a 19 year old rookie in Michael Kidd-Gilchrist in a game of one on one, and MKG basically said it ruined him mentally to get worked like that. You know what, if the NBA was smart they would figure out a way to have this happen during All Star Weekend and stream it online or something. Tell me that wouldn’t do big time ratings. The only thing we have tonight is the Rising Stars Challenge, why not have this battle at halftime or something? That would be awesome.

So while Grizzlies fans may have enjoyed what they’ve seen from JJJ so far this season and are excited about his future, I’m sorry to say don’t be surprised if MJ destroys him. You can’t come at the king like that and think nothing will come of it. That’s not how MJ rolls.
