Skier Tries To Triple Backflip A Mogul Course, Does NOT End Well

I’ve never understood why people choose to ski moguls. You can’t carve, you can’t go fast, you can’t catch air.  All you can do is pray that your knees don’t explode. It’s the most unnecessary and unfun part of the sport. I’d get stuck in the moguls as a kid at Wachusett Mountain and it felt I was in a riptide. No matter how hard I fought I couldn’t get out. I’d either cross my tips and fall or go so slow that I’d hold up the people behind me. It was easily the worst part of any ski trip. So when I see guys blasting through a mogul course it always amazes me. Especially when there are jumps in the mix. There’s such little time to get set up that it’s a miracle more people don’t end up dead. The craziest part is that they don’t even look like jumps. You think they’re just skiing the course and next thing you know they’re thirty feet in the air.

The guy on the right hit the ground so hard that he literally bounced. Bounced.

I guess I just want to know why he decided to risk it? At what point during his jump did he say, “Fuck it, I’m going for a third flip.” The craziest part of the whole thing is that he skied away from the accident. If I hit the ground that hard my body would just stop working. Head, shoulders, knees and toes would all be destroyed. I know I sound like a broken record, but I’ll say it again, extreme athletes deserve way more credit than they get. Take a look at these maniacs and tell me you don’t agree.
