“He takes my breath away. As all my kids stood up for the anthem in our family room, i took the wings out of the oven so I could honor my country as well, and I turned around to see this. He doesn’t always salute but he chose today to do so.

And while I realize my disrespect in even taking this photo instead of giving my full attention to the Anthem, I couldn’t let it pass without memorializing it’s beauty, it’s majesty.

Because when I turned around after taking the wings out of the oven, I saw this, and it took my breath away, and yes, I teared up.”

It’s been a few days now & Super Bowl post fatigue is setting in (for an Eagles fan, at least), and yet I couldn’t pass this one up. It’s been making the rounds on Twitter & every time I see it pop up I immediately cringe & then hope it’s just a joke.

But if it’s not… I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to forgive the photographer for taking a photo DURING the anthem, even if she made sure to take the wings out first. The DISRESPECT.

In a way, isn’t saluting just making your own, physical chicken wings.. for the troops? If that’s the case I’ll always have my wings out for the troops, too, even if Chaps thinks I fuck it up.

Anyways, whether you think displays like that are cringeworthy or wonderful, here’s to all the patriots who have fought when it mattered most. <3
