To The Surprise Of No One, Kyrie Irving's Comments Were Taken Wildly Out Of Context

Oh wow! Listening to Kyrie Irving speak sure sounds a whole lot different in terms of tone and meaning than just reading salacious, out of context quotes. It’s crazy, to me, that the media was standing right the fuck in front of Kyrie Irving, listened to him bash the media for how they’ve treated his contract situation for the entire season, talked about how rumors aren’t true and that people should stop acting like fifth graders, only for the VERY SAME MEDIA to turn around and do exactly what he was complaining about. Crazy.

Meanwhile Celtics fans are frothing at the mouth ready to trade the best point guard in franchise history because they can’t read good. Kyrie’s made commercials with his dad talking about how important Boston is to his family. He’s made various statements about his legacy in the Garden and how he doesn’t want anyone to wear #11 ever again. He said out loud to a sold out crowd to begin the season that he wants to stay in Boston. Anyone who still wants him to “fan the flames and make a definitive statement” just isn’t listening.

I mean, he literally did this against the Raptors in Boston this fucking calendar year.

Definitely looks like a guy who is ready to sprint out the door.

And people still want to ask him the same dumbass questions and spark rumors over and over and over again. It takes a real genius to figure out why he’s fed up… with the media. Listen, I don’t know where Kyrie is going to sign. I don’t know if he wants to play with Anthony Davis. I would assume most good basketball players would like to play with other good basketball players. The Celtics have good basketball players. The Knicks do not. The Lakers have one. I wonder which team is his frontrunner at the moment. Oh that’s right, he said it was the Celtics. All I can go off of is what he’s said. Repeatedly. Time and time again. Kyrie doesn’t have a problem with Boston. He has a problem with people asking him the same dumbass questions over and over again, spreading rumors, and making shit up out of thin air because people don’t know how to garner clicks or attention organically any more.

I get Kyrie is as mercurial as stars come, I get he wants to be an anarchist farmer who destroys the government from within, only to cast his millions of dollars to the seas and live off the land. He’s a weird dude. It’s part of his charm for me. Where he signs this summer is as good a guess as anyone has. To talk it into the ground every single day and just make up shit feels like a massive waste of time. Talking about trading him a week before the deadline feels moronic to say the least. Tying him to another superstar feels like the exact situation he just demanded to get out of last summer but hey, what do I know, keep running with the rumors. That seems to be what he’s implying is the good and correct thing to do here.

PS – This is example #8477483 why I don’t listen to people from fucking Connecticut about Boston matters.
