I Am So Confused As To How These Ski-Parachuters Didn't Die

I’m not going to try to pretend like I understand why these guys do what they do, I’m guessing it’s because of the adrenaline rush, but I will say that I am very confused as to how they didn’t die. Just regularly skiing down a mountain of that size is impossible. You’re in powder up to your waist, you’re at risk of being caught in an avalanche, there are unexpected boulders, tree wells, the list goes on and on. God forbid you fall, you’re not stopping until you’re either Sonny Bono’d or at the bottom of the mountain. Then you mix in the fact that every couple hundred feet you’re flying through the air and you’re essentially asking for death.

It’s crazy because you can be a talented skier and you can be a talented sky diver, but there’s not really any way to practice combining the two unless you just get out there and do it. There are no practice runs or take backs. One mistake and you’re squashed. From the looks of it they didn’t choose the beginner course either. They chose the equivalent to Revolution Cliff from N64’s 20180 snowboarding.

The craziest part is that they decided to spice things up with a few flips half way down the mountain. As if playing James Bond The Spy Who Loved Me‘s  version chicken wasn’t enough.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, extreme athletes don’t get the credit they deserve. Maybe it’s because I’ve never done anything remotely close to what they do, but I’m pretty sure every time they complete a course it’s a miracle that they’re still alive.
