You Won't Find a Bigger Choke Job Than What Serena Williams Pulled At The Aussie Open Last Night

Damn, that really stinks huh? Up 5-1 in the 3rd set with a match point on your racquet and you go on to lose SIX GAMES IN A ROW. For those not familiar with tennis that’s like blowing a four touchdown lead in the 4th quarter while having the ball. Really hate to see that kind of stuff. Maybe it was karma from the US Open tirade she gave? I’m just throwing out possibilities folks.

She tweaked her ankle a little bit when up 5-1 in the final set, so that will be the excuse train the media will roll with because they think she can do no wrong. I watched the broadcast after the match and someone said she was UNLUCKY in this match. Unlucky? First off, she lost the first set 6-4 and looked awful to start. There was nothing unlucky about that, she just got beat. She battled back in the 2nd set and then turned it on in the 3rd to go up 5-1. She had four match points and couldn’t close the door. The moment she got called for a foot fault she lost her game. That little hiccup threw her completely off and she never mentally recovered. Speaking of foot faults, remember when Serena berated a line judge for calling a foot fault in the 2009 US Open semifinal. No? Let me refresh your memory.

Not great! Back to the match, if her ankle was really bothering her that much she could have called for the trainer and had it wrapped up or looked at. She choked, plain and simple. When you’re down 5-1 and match point to Serena you’re thinking about the locker room and what you’re getting for dinner. Pliskova admitted this. It was over. Serena handed this win over to Pliskova on a silver platter.

Some people are whispering Serena was too terrified to face Naomi Osaka, who was waiting in the semifinals for a rematch from the US Open.

Remember that US Open final? The one where Serena lost her goddamn mind and completely took away Osaka’s moment because she thought the umpire was being sexist? The one where she denied she was cheating even though she was 100% cheating. One of the craziest 10 minutes of live TV I’ve ever seen.

I obviously respect how she’s returned to the sport from almost dying during her pregnancy. That’s some real life crazy stuff, but I’ve never been a fan of hers. That was my opinon before her US Open tirade when she tried to ruin a 20 year old’s moment of winning her first ever grand slam while berating a veteran umpire who was doing his job.

I’m all in for Osaka or the American Danielle Collins to win the title now.
