Winter Storm Warning In Effect For Chicago: Prepare To Get Shit On By Mother Nature

CHICAGO (WLS) — A Winter Storm Warning will go into effect for the entire Chicago area Friday afternoon and continuing into Saturday as a major snowstorm is expected to dump several inches of snow across the area. Snow will begin falling Friday afternoon into Saturday morning in the Chicago area, leaving behind 3 to 8 inches for many areas, with higher totals most likely north of I-88.
The heaviest snow will fall from about 8 p.m. Friday until about 6 a.m. Saturday. Winds will gust up to 35 mph which will lead to poor visibility in snow showers and also blowing/drifting snow. Saturday’s temperature will reach a high of 26 degrees and a low of 12. On Sunday, bitter cold temps and wind chills will take over with high temps reaching only 12 degrees, and a low of 0.

You’re not alone! I love the 4 seasons. I genuinely love walking in the snow and being outside in the winter. The city takes a whole new beauty with a layer of snow and a bite of cold. We live in CHICAGO. If you don’t like the snow or cold, move to LA.

Me too! I can’t believe we’ve had to wait this long. And the feeling was shared by my kids, one of whom insisted it was not even really “winter” yet due to a lack of snow. (And I even had to drive in it a fair amount. Still love it!)

I was completely alone! … Everything was deserted and the snow was still perfect white where it was collecting. A very nice afternoon. Summertime Chi is world famous, but the real locals know the beauty is in the snowfall.
Actually, the real locals don’t pretend that this is anything other than a drastic inconvenience to get to Chicago summers. Everyone knows we’re here for May-September. Everything else is the cost of doing business and spoiler alert boys: it’s time to pay the fiddler.
There’s nothing fun about snow in Chicago. It’s not magical, not mystical. For almost 10 years now we’ve been able to distract ourselves from winter with championship hockey and competitive basketball. And with that obviously long gone, the harsh reality of Chicago winter is only becoming that more real. The fact we’ve had to wait this long for our first big shit storm usually means we’ll get buried in March and April which definitely means 16 inch start dates will get pushed back. FUCK THIS.
