UFC & ESPN Place Piece Of Shit Scumfuck Greg Hardy In This Weekend's Co-Main Event Instead Of A Few MMA Legends

This weekend, the UFC makes its debut on ESPN’s streaming platform, ESPN+, and the card they’re kicking things off with is a hell of a slate.

Henry Cejudo will defend his UFC Flyweight Championship against Bantamweight Champ T.J. Dillashaw in a Champion vs Champion Superfight main event, winningest UFC fighter of all time, fan favorite, and absolute legend Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone takes on up-and-comer Alexander Hernandez in his first fight back at Lightweight in attempt to kick off his journey to the gold, Joseph Benavidez and Dustin Ortiz will clash in a bout that has major implications on the night’s main event, new audiences’ eyes and attention will be caught by the Paige VanZant vs Rachael Ostovich flyweight contest…oh, and former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy will make his UFC debut, in the co-main event of the show, above each and every one of the fights I just mentioned.

In 2014, Hardy was arrested for assault after he was accused of attacking and threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend. The woman testified that Hardy threw her on a futon filled with guns and placed his hands on her throat. “He looked me in my eyes and he told me he was going to kill me,” she said. “I was so scared I wanted to die. When he loosened his grip slightly, I said just, ‘Do it. Kill me.’”

Hardy denied the accusations but was convicted on two counts of domestic violence and was sentenced to 18 months probation and a two-month suspended jail sentence. Hardy appealed the sentence and managed to get the charges expunged from his record in 2015 after his ex-girlfriend failed to appear at court to give testimony. It was later reported she had settled a civil suit with Hardy.

The Ultimate Fighting Championships have controversially given Hardy a platform to fight on the streaming series, Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, not too long after Dana White claimed the company had a zero-tolerance policy for domestic abusers, stating: “There’s one thing that you never bounce back from and that’s putting your hands on a woman. Been that way in the UFC since we started here. You don’t bounce back from putting your hands on a woman.”

In each of Hardy’s fights, he’s ran through his opponents with impressive first round knockouts, and this Saturday in Brooklyn he’s been given the spotlight to shine in the co-main event of one of the most historically significant shows in company history because…he’s a recognizable name, I guess? They know he’ll bring eyeballs to the broadcast, and downloads to their app? Even more tone deaf than placing him on this card and in the co-main event is the fact that he was placed on it after recent domestic abuse survivor Rachael Ostovich was already on it, but with the whole shitty fucking operation they’re running here, I wouldn’t expect any less.

Dana claims she’s cool with it, and it appears from all interviews she’s done that she is, but most fans that I’ve seen (rightfully) aren’t.

I love mixed martial arts. I love the UFC. I (mostly) love Dana White. I just have a bit of an issue with giving Greg fucking Hardy more respect than some of the most storied active legends the sport has to offer by placing him in the co-main event of this show. I can barely stomach the UFC employing him in the first place. I don’t care what the reason for his card placement is, though – if it’s because putting Cowboy and all them on the prelims will drive more downloads – whatever. Because honestly, in my eyes…there’s one thing that you never bounce back from and that’s putting your hands on a woman.
