Damn. We knew a decision had to be made, but it looks like the Eagles knew what they were going to be doing all along. Not to mention BDN’s post game presser sounded like a goodbye speech.
The Eagles have expensive options if they would like to keep Foles. They could A) Sign him straight cash homie (VERY unlikely) B) Franchise him (last year’s tag for a QB was $23.8 million) C) Pick up his $20 mill club option in which Foles can buy the Birds out with his $2 mill option, or D) Let BDN go clean. We’re most likely going to see a C scenario where the Eagles will get some money, and an exceptional compensatory 2020 draft pick for Foles after he signs with another team. I said before that there could be a very miniscule chance Nick Foles takes a discount to be a backup because he’s happy where he’s at, but that’s just a pipedream at this point. BDN wants and deserves to be a starter, nay, franchise guy for a team in the NFL, and he’ll get his chance. The Eagles simply can’t afford to keep him and sign Wentz to a long-term deal the Ginger is going to get real soon. Theoretically a team could still trade for Foles, but that seems unlikely as BDN will probably be on the open market.
When it comes to Foles vs. Wentz…fuck anyone for taking troll propaganda master Davey Goebbels’ bait to rip Eagles fans apart. Here’s how everyone should’ve felt during last year’s and this year’s runs, and I’ll stand by this to the death:
Choosing between Foles and Wentz would be like being forced to pick two boxes that held $1 million and $2 million, respectively. Sure, I’d LOVE to make the right call and have the $2 million, but it’s a fucking win-win either way. If we do however pick the $1 million box, fuck it, then let’s try to turn it into $10 million. No matter what happens, Nick Foles has a statue in Philly already. Everyone and their mother’s will love and respect BDN forever, no matter where he goes or what he does. Say it together now…
