Please Join Me In Paying Respect To Chandler Parson's Ultimate Finesse Job

Houston Rockets v Memphis Grizzlies

The NBA is filled with terrible contracts and some great finesse jobs, but as someone who appreciates that sort of thing how could I not take a minute and tip my cap to Chandler Parsons. Now to be fair, Parson’s isn’t in this situation because he stinks but rather because he’s had some pretty terrible injury luck. But to go from signing contracts with Mark Cuban in the club, to then parlaying that into a massive 4/94M deal with Memphis only to play a total of 73 games in 3 seasons and then be in a situation where that very same team is forced to pay you $38M even though they want you gone and want nothing to do with you, well that my friend is the American dream.

So how the hell did we get here. Well, according to Woj things went south when it came to Parsons and the team figuring out his G-League rehab assignment. You see he was finally cleared to play on December 21st (he’s played in just 3 games this year) and wants to play, but rightfully so the Grizzlies want to see him actually play in some live action before bringing him up on the active roster. They could certainly try and move him, but good luck with that shit because what team out there is going to take that sort of money on for a player who has shown no sign whatsoever that he can stay healthy?

It’s really a bummer too because when Parsons was on HOU and those 2 seasons in DAL, he was a fairly productive wing. It’s been a complete disaster from the jump in MEM due to his injuries, and now we could see him out of the league but still paid like a max player. While I know he would prefer to be playing, at least that makes things a little easier. I don’t know how he convinced Chris Wallace to give him that contract, but you have to respect it. Getting a massive deal and then being so bad that same team wants you gone but still has to pay you has to have Parsons up there with the all time finesse greats. You know, guys like Melo, Timofey Mozgov, Loul Deng, etc. Parsons is absolutely up there with those legends, and I think we all should take a moment and raise our glass to a true finesse icon.

So if this really is it for Parsons, it was one hell of a run
