The Spanish Radio Call Of Cody Parkey's Missed Field Goal Has Me In Tears
I might be out on watching games and listening to English broadcasts. Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth do a fine job, don’t get me wrong. I feel like most announcers do a fine job to be honest. But this call has me on the god damn floor. I’d go as far to say that it’s the greatest call in the history of language and voice boxes. This is like Nelson Muntz point and laughing in your face times a trillion. I have absolutely no feelings towards the Eagles or Bears, had no care in the world who won that game, but the second this guy started yelling “NO SEÑOR! NO SEÑOR! NO SEÑOR!” I’d never been happier to see Cody Parkey miss a field goal in all my days. When he starts singing “Chicago! Chicago!” in what appeared to be perfect English he might as well have buried Parkey alive, and tap danced on the dirt of his grave. I don’t even remember what Michaels and Collinsworth said in real time but I know for a fact it wasn’t 1/10000th as exhilarating as this call en Español. For the rest of the playoffs I’m smashing that SAP button, sitting back and waiting for the magic to unfold. I don’t care if I don’t understand what they’re saying for the vast majority of the game. I can’t miss a moment like this ever again.
