Are The Chicago Bears Cowards If They Don't Let Trey Burton Throw A Pass On Sunday?

NFL: NOV 11 Lions at Bears

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And if that is truly the case, well then the Chicago Bears REALLY want to flatter the Philadelphia Eagles. I mean just take a look at how much the Bears want to be the Eagles. It starts with drafting their quarterback of the future with the 2nd overall pick, very much like how the Eagles drafted Carson Wentz overall. Then to go along with that quarterback, the Chicago Bears hired a head coach from the Andy Reid coaching tree, who previously played quarterback before their coaching career began. Both Doug Pederson and Matt Nagy were quarterbacks themselves, spent time as the offensive quality control coach with the Eagles and then went from being the offensive coordinator under Andy Reid in Kansas City to gaining their first head coaching gig. On top of that, the Chicago Bears also have Cody Parkey as their kicker. Any guesses as to where Cody Parkey played before? That’s right. With the Philadelphia Eagles. And along with that, the Chicago Bears also signed TE Trey Burton this past offseason. You may remember Trey Burton as the man who ended up throwing the pass in a little play called “The Philly Special” in Super Bowl LII.

Draft franchise quarterback 2nd overall. Hire head coach from Andy Reid coaching tree. Sign Cody Parkey. Sign Trey Burton. I mean the Chicago Bears are basically Michael Scott when he grew his goatee out because Ryan had one. With Ryan, of course, being the Eagles.

Oh yeah and Chase Daniel, too. But he doesn’t really count and that’s besides the point. Because the point of this blog isn’t to show how badly the Chicago Bears want to replicate everything the Eagles have. The point of this blog is that if you want to be the best, you need to beat the best. And until somebody else holds that Lombardi Trophy over their heads, the Philadelphia Eagles are still the defending Champs. And sure, maybe focusing on winning the game with one of the most intimidating defenses in the entire league would be a good game plan for the Bears this weekend, that would just show a disgusting lack of character. It would show a disgusting lack of pride. You can’t go out there and try to beat the Eagles with defense. You need to beat them at their own game. You need Matt Nagy to whip out his nuts and try to keep up with the size of Doug Pederson’s boulder testicles.

Which is why the Chicago Bears would be cowards to not have Trey Burton at least attempt to throw the ball once on Sunday.

And I know I said that Chase Daniel doesn’t count but you know what? The Chicago Bears will also be cowards if they don’t sit Mitch Tribusky on Sunday and play Chase instead. I mean if you really want to emulate everything the Eagles did last year, you have to go all in. You can’t half ass it by playing your starting quarterback and not throwing touchdown passes with your tight ends. Go big or go home. Guess we’ll see on Sunday.

P.S. – Love Trey and I’m glad he’s getting paid in Chicago. You win a Super Bowl with the Eagles and you deserve every single dollar that’s in your bank account. But I still hope he loses on Sunday.
