6 Year Old Boy Suspended From School For Making Gun Gesture With His Hand

MSNBC – A 6-year-old Montgomery County boy was recently suspended from school for making a gun gesture with his thumb and forefinger. Now, his family has retained a lawyer and is fighting back. The boy is a student at Roscoe Nix Elementary School in Silver Spring. His attorney, Robin Ficker, says that school officials overreacted to the gesture, since it came a week after the mass shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, in which 20 elementary school students and 6 staff members were killed. A letter was sent home to the boy’s parents, informing them that he would not be allowed to return from winter break on Wednesday with the rest of the student body. The suspension was only to be for that day. At issue, Ficker told News4’s Jackie Bensen, is whether the boy understands the implications of the gesture. After speaking to his young client, Ficker is convinced that the boy does not. “He doesn’t understand,” Ficker says. “The law says he is not old enough to form intent.”

I know the world is different place after Newtown. As it should be. Anything that can be done to stop that from ever happening again should be done. And to be perfectly honest this family probably should have just taken the 1 day suspension from fucking kindergarten or whatever rather than turning it into a goddam lawsuit and national news. But if we’re gonna live in a world where you can’t make a gun with your thumb and pointer, there’s gonna be a shit ton suspensions all over the place. What does suspending a 6 year old even do? I don’t remember a fucking thing from when I was 6. Like you’re trying to teach a lesson about school violence to a kid who probably shits in his pants 5-6 times a year still. That ain’t stopping any school shootings. Just don’t raise psychopaths and don’t let them get guns easily and we’ll be good. Also I’d like to implement a plan where we make sure any angst ridden teenager showing any tell tale signs gets an automatic hand job. Hire a team of broads who’s sole job is to give out tug jobs to ease the mind of these kids who are bullied and outcasts. If you’re in high school getting your rocks off nothing else matters. No red blooded male is doing anything to mess up a good situation like that. And yes I’m joking but only like half joking.
