The Boston Bruins Went Into Notre Dame And Beat The Chicago Blackhawks 4-2 In The Winter Classic

2019 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic - Boston Bruins v Chicago Blackhawks

The Boston Bruins went into Notre Dame and defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-2 in the 2019 Winter Classic.

Honestly it was over when the Bruins walked into the stadium as the Peaky Blinders.

1st period…

Brendan Perlini opened the scoring for the Chicago Blackhawks early in the 1st, but David Pastrnak tied things up shortly after.

Then he gave them the bird. (He claims he tried to impersonate LeBron).

Tuukka Rask kept the game tied 1-1 with a massive save on Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane.

2nd period…

11 minutes into the 2nd, Dominik Kahun broke the tie off a great redirection. 2-1 Blackhawks.

With 2 minutes to go in the period, Patrice Bergeron’s backcheck prevented a shorthanded goal..

…and then he tied the game on the PP. 2-2 after 2. (*cough, Selke, cough*)

3rd…

10:20 into the final frame at Notre Dame Stadium, Sean fucking Kuraly happened (again).

This belongs in a museum.

Brad Marchand added an empty net goal, and that’s all she wrote.

FINAL: Boston 4, Chicago 2.

Few notes.

  • Notre Dame Stadium ran out of beer (and a lot of food) halfway through the first period. Problematic.
  • Tuukka Rask turned away 36 shots en route to his 2nd consecutive win. He played stellar today, this start was his 469th game, the most by any goaltender in Boston Bruins history.
  • No one on the planet is hotter than Sean Kuraly. Back to back game-winning goals.
  • Shit down of penalties in today’s game, Bruins had lots of opportunities but finished the day 2/5 on the PP.
  • Notre Dame is a beautiful stadium. Great atmosphere, great pace to today’s game.
  • Huge two points for the B’s, who are now tied with the Buffalo Sabres for third in the Atlantic Division.
  • The B’s are back in action on Thursday night against the Calgary Flames, here’s to hoping Chuckie Bright Lights is good to go (LBI).

It was a great day to win a hockey game.

p.s thanks to all the stoolies who came out to the Spittin’ Chiclets/Red Line Radio tailgate before the game.
