Well Shit, Aron Baynes Broke His Hand

Phoenix Suns v Boston Celtics

Well that’s not great! You damn right Shams, Aron Baynes is a critical player for the Celtics. In case you weren’t aware every single big is hurt. You knew it was bad when right away the news came out that he wasn’t coming back. That’s never a situation that actually turns out OK. Sadly this was the Shams bomb I was expecting and frankly the only surprising thing was learning that Aron Baynes’ bones actually break. When he came back from a sprained ankle in like 2 days I figured he was incapable of breaking. The big blow here is obviously what he brings this team on defense, and seeing as how MIL is pretty damn long, this is a big hit for Friday’s matchup. With Horford still out, Yabu hurt, this now puts added pressure on Daniel Theis and Robert Williams. It’ll be great to see Timelord get more minutes but that’s besides the point. The point is to anyone who watches this team, you know how important Baynes is to their success. It sounds crazy, but it’s true. They’ll definitely feel his absence.

It also is immediately relevant because they’re currently in a dogfight with the goddamn Suns. Not too many bodies available with Marcus Morris also out tonight to try and contain Ayton. We may see Semi play some center at some point because this team has nobody else. They’re going to need everyone to crash the glass and put a body on someone, because that’s their life for the next month plus.

Shit sucks, all you can say is get well soon Aron, you will be missed.
