It's A Sad Day For Elon Musk Fans As A SpaceX Rocket Malfunctions And Crash Lands In The Water

The Verge- For the first time since SpaceX began recovering its Falcon 9 fleet, the company failed to land one of its rockets that was meant to touch down on solid ground. Just seven minutes after launching from Florida this afternoon, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket was preparing to land on the company’s concrete landing pad back near the launch site at Cape Canaveral. But footage from the booster showed it spinning out of control, and SpaceX commentators confirmed that the vehicle hit the Atlantic Ocean instead. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk blamed the failure on one of the Falcon 9’s grid fins, which are used to steer the booster to its intended landing target.

Well damn. On the list of things you just hate to see, this is on it. I’m not saying that sarcastically. I hated to see that rocket fail. This rocket failing and crash-landing actually makes me feel bad for all the people who still support Elon Musk. SpaceX was all they had left in their pro-Elon arguments. The things they can use to defend him have been dwindling and dwindling fast in the past 21 months. Tesla almost went bankrupt earlier this year and Elon’s Twitter account is not the Twitter account of a stable genius but SpaceX was the one thing Musk stans could point to and be like, “Look! He hasn’t royally fucked this up yet!” People are always sending me videos of Elon Musk’s bottle rockets as some sort of proof that he isn’t a complete and total fraud but that argument is now gone. The well has dried up. So on a day where I should be jumping for joy because Elon Musk failed once again, I can’t help but feel bad for the poor souls who are now left with nothing to defend their hero. It’s a happy day for truth-seekers like me and a sad day for delusional Elon Musk fans.
