Russell Westbrook Explains His Latest Taunt And I Love It

If you’ve watched any OKC basketball this year, you’ve for sure seen this taunt from Russell Westbrook. As one of the premiere shit talkers in the NBA, especially when someone tries to defend him, I’m always interested in what new wrinkle Westbrook is going to have with each new season. Well this year he’s all about the Rock The Baby routine. Now he did just have a baby so I can understand why some may have thought it was a tribute or something, but come on, of course the real meaning behind the move is that Westbrook thinks you’re a little bitch. A baby even. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s a great compilation of this move

What I love about this taunt is its simplicity. I think that’s what makes it even more disrespectful. Sure he could say something along the lines of “you can’t guard me you little bitch!”, but as we know actions speak louder than words. For some reason I just feel like guys get really annoyed with this and anything that allows Westbrook to get under his defender’s skin is a win for him.

When he’s been asked about it, specifically after killing Patrick Beverly with it, he gave this quote

“Yeah, you got little kids, you got little babies, put ‘em to sleep… That’s what happens. Little guards, you gotta rock ‘em.”

How do you come back from that? That’s what makes this taunt so good, there’s no comeback. Westbrook beats you on the court in front of your friends and family and then declares you a baby. In a league where we get everything from players telling other players their wife tastes like a certain cereal, this taunt is so innocent yet cuts so deep.

You know how you know it’s a good taunt? Other players in the league start to use it. Here we have Klay doing it

Hell, we even have it in a completely different sport!

We already knew Westbrook was a trend setter when it came to fashion, and we can now add his taunt game to the list. I cannot wait for someone to snap and come at Westbrook after he does this on them, and if you think that person isn’t going to be Patrick Beverly you haven’t been paying attention. Mark your calendars for December 15th and March 8th, because you know Westbrook is going to be trolling at a high level in both of those.
