The Road to Santa Clara: Week 13 (Northwestern, Lol)

Forget the College Football Playoff. I don’t think there’s anything that we could’ve done differently this year to look impressive in the eyes of the committee, so we just need to worry about ourselves. Beat our Rival and win the Big 10. Those have been and always will be the goals of The Ohio State football program. And unfortunately, we’re already 0-1 on those goals. We didn’t beat our rival; we kicked the absolute living shit out of them. But we still have an opportunity to achieve our next goal. And it’s honestly kind of laughable to see which team that stands in the way.

Week 13: Ohio State vs. Northwestern

Date: December 1st, 2018  Time: 8:00 EST TV: Fox All-Time Series: Ohio State leads 61-14-1 Last Meeting: Ohio State 24-20 in 2016 Spread: Ohio State -14

I hate to be an overconfident, cocky Buckeye fan. I think it gives our fan base a bad reputation. But there is a 0.0% chance the Buckeyes lose this game. It’s on at 8 pm, with the entire world watching, meaning regardless of opponent it will fall into the “Big Game” category. Urban Meyer does not lose big games. Never has and never will. And most of the time, these big games consist of two talented teams. This time, it features a clear top 4 team in the country (honestly, probably #3 if you really think about it) and the unlucky winner of the Big Ten West. I never thought I’d say this, but it’s about time we take a page out of the Big 12’s playbook to ensure our teams make the playoff. They got rid of divisions, so they have the top 2 teams in the conference play in the championship. We could be playing Michigan or Penn State again to boost our resume. Instead, we have to play Northwestern. You guys, Northwestern lost to AKRON.

Now, Akron isn’t as bare and decrepit as LeBron James tries to make everyone think, but the city and the university definitely do suck. That is a BAD loss. Can’t have bad losses. Anyways, Northwestern also lost to Michigan, Duke, and Notre Dame. That’s 4 losses! With only 3-point victories over Rutgers and Nebraska. I’m not kidding when I say I think the Buckeyes have a chance to win by triple digits. I mean, Northwestern’s resume reminds me of Oklahoma’s it’s so bad. And since you guys brought up Oklahoma, I guess I’ll continue to speak on that subject.

okla

Say what you want, but the numbers speak for themselves. Everyone says that you can always skew the numbers in your favor, but I literally can’t find one reason why the committee would put Oklahoma over Ohio State. Well, except that the committee is made up of corrupt Big 12 administrator’s like Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione.

And I’m not even talking about him having his greasy hand in the fact that Ohio State is all the way down at 6 while Oklahoma gets to sit all the way up 5. I’m talking about the corruption in the lower parts of rankings. I am not an idiot. In fact, I’m probably one of the smartest bloggers at Barstool. I certainly went to the most prestigious university. And with my impeccable brainpower and education, I have caught on to exactly what those weasels down in the committee office are doing with these rankings.

Let me be clear: I am not saying Northwestern is a good team. They stink and we’re going to show it tonight. But how does being winners of 3 straight get them to drop 2 spots in the latest rankings? They were 19 last week, and they won! I’ll tell you how they dropped. It’s because the committee wants to make Ohio State’s win this weekend look less impressive. It would have been a Top 20 win. Now it’s not. You may be able to pull this bullshit on SEC fans, but Ohio State fans are too intelligent to sit around and not notice. This stinks more than the grassy knoll and the moon landing combined. And one thing we do NOT tolerate at The Ohio State University is coverups. So if you’re going to railroad us because you’re jealous, please just come out and say it. Or at least leak it to McMuffin for him to inaccurately report it.

But okay, you guys got me off track. As much as the media and the committee want to control the narrative here, the Buckeyes play the last game tonight and they’ll know exactly what they need to do. If Tommy Herman and the boys get the job done down in Arlington against perhaps the worst defense in modern sport, then all we’ll need to do is win and we’re in.

But if it’s an Oklahoma win, then they Buckeyes will need to look impressive. Now I’d be slightly worried about this if this were the first time I was going through this, but it isn’t. In fact, I didn’t only see this happen, I lived it. In 2014 (my senior year), the Buckeyes needed to put up an ultra-impressive performance in the Big Ten Championship Game to have any hope at the playoff. They were ranked #6 (ironic?) and needed beat the brakes off of our December Doormat, Wisconsin, to have any chance. You guys are going to laugh, but Wisconsin was actually favored by 4.5 points in that game. Anyways, you guys all know what happened next.

Well, fast forward 4 years and we’re in the same situation. We’re at #6. We have a “bad loss”. We’re the most talented team in the country. And we need to look impressive. Well boys, if you need to win big in the conference championship like you did in 2014, you need to drink big like you did in 2014. It’s turn back the clock night in Columbus!
