2nd Overall Pick In The NLL Draft Chris Cloutier Joined The Crease Dive To Talk About The Upcoming Season With The Philadelphia Wings

Chris Cloutier is probably best known for scoring the overtime game winner in the 2016 National Championship game for UNC over Maryland at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA.

It was his 5th goal of the game after scoring 9 goals against Loyola in the semifinal just 2 days earlier. 14 goals in 2 games on Championship Weekend in Philadelphia as a sophomore. And now he gets to return to Philly as a member of the Philadelphia Wings as the 2nd overall pick in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft. Now the majority of people–at least in the US–know Cloutier for his field game. They know him for that National Championships performance, for the ridiculous 1-handed goals he made a career out of at UNC, and for being named the 2018 Rookie of the Year with the Denver Outlaws in the MLL last year after leading them to an MLL Championship.

But the reasons why Cloots is such a beast in the field game is because all of his skills have just been carried over from the box game. He only got to play in 8 games this past summer with the Cobourg Kodiaks in Major Series Lacrosse since he spent most of the summer with the Outlaws, but in those 8 games he had 21 goals and 32 points. That’s going up against mostly all the same guys he’ll be playing against in the NLL this upcoming season so if he’s averaging 4 points a game? I’d say that’s pretty decent.
