Monday Night Football Having More Points Than Two College Basketball Games Is A Mind-Blowing Stat To Read

Kansas City Chiefs v Los Angeles Rams

Listen, there’s no doubt that Monday Night Football game was awesome. In fact to quote everyone’s favorite human Clem, it was fucking awesome.  But, when I saw this stat this morning it may have even become more legendary.

The Chiefs and Rams combined for 105 points. Insane for sure. But, those two combined to outscore two different college basketball games. Shockingly none of those games included Virginia, a team that typically holds teams under 50 points. The two games that Monday Night Football outscored?

Charlotte beat Longwood 42-39 and Rutgers beat Eastern Michigan 63-36. Included in that was one of the most dominating defenses from Rutgers when it held Eastern Michigan to 4 points in the 1st half. That tied for the fewest points in a half in NCAA history.

So, yes, that Monday Night Football game was awesome. And this stat is awesome. It’s one of those little sports nuggets that I enjoy finding out about, mostly because I’m a nerd.
