I Think Isiah Thomas Just Said That He Has Been Proven Right For Making The Eddy Curry Trade

Ahhhh, nothing like getting triggered about a trade that happened 13 years ago. But this is the kind of shit that Isiah Thomas does from time to time that reminds you how he can continue to get jobs running basketball teams into the ground. Twisting the narrative of a conversation while flashing that 10 million watt Zeke smile. It takes a special kind of asshole to be close personal friends with James Dolan while also becoming an enemy of Magic Johnson. But that’s our Zeke!

Now that first tweet is typical Zeke spinzoning. Was Isiah good at finding value in the draft? Definitely. It was easily his best attribute as a general manager. Trevor Ariza, Nate Robinson, David Lee, and Wilson Chandler were all great picks considering where they were selected. Granted saying Isiah was a good at drafting is like saying Al Capone was very charitable. It’s true, but doesn’t tell the whole story. The initial tweet Isiah responded to was about how he would trade a draft pick away for an aging expensive star that would clog up the cap with Isiah’s poor signings, which just so happened to be a signature move of the Isiah Thomas Era. An unmotivated John Wall would have fit perfectly with those Isiah teams. You guys wanna get nauseous while reliving some of the Ghosts of Knicksmas Past?

Then we get to the Eddy Curry trade AKA the trade that set back the Knicks for years as they traded a bunch of draft picks to have the privilege to sign an out-of-shape center with heart problems to a massive contract. Good times! Now if you take Isiah’s tweet at face value, you can try to convince yourself that he made the right move. Unfortunately they keep track of things like basketball trades on the internet. And while the Bulls clearly fucked up trading for flipping LaMarcus Aldridge for Tyrus Thomas, the number 2 pick that Isiah traded was indeed Aldridge and he traded the pick that became Very Good Joakim Noah when he was with the Bulls, not be confused Very Bad Joakim Noah on the Knicks, who both would have obviously been much better and muchhhhh cheaper than Curry.

You would think that if you asked Isiah about the Curry trade, he would curl into a ball and start crying like Billy King probably does whenever he is questioned about mortgaging the entire Nets future in order to acquire Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett right before they became White Walkers. Instead Zeke is out here throwing around championship ring stats even though Frye averaged 14 minutes per game as LeBron took down the Warriors, Eddy Curry played a TOTAL of 14 games for the Heat (and 0 in the playoffs) as LeBron carried his bum ass to a ring, and even my beloved David Lee was benched during the Warriors run to their first title, though he did make some big plays in the Finals. Pointing out those guys’ rings and ignoring the gigantic flop that Eddy Curry was with the Knicks would be like Billy King saying how good Kyle Kuzma looks on the Lakers because he was selected with one of the picks the Nets got back from the Celtics in that trade from hell.

TL;DR- Fuck Isiah Thomas

P.S. It’s EDDY Curry, you snake oil salesman. At least spell the name of the man who ruined your reputation in basketball correctly. If Knicks fans have to have the name of the gutterball player burned into their brain, so does Isiah.

P.P.S. This brings me as much joy as a Knicks fan as Kristaps Porzingis following me on Twitter once did.
