Nikola Jokic Was Fined $25,000 For Saying "No Homo" While Describing Wendell Carter Jr.'s Length

NBA release: Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic has been fined $25,000 for using derogatory and offensive language, it was announced today by Kiki VanDeWeghe, Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.

Jokic made his comments to the media during a postgame interview following the Nuggets’ 108-107 overtime win over the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 31 at United Center.

I’m always torn on these. I’m feel like I’m supposed to care, but I just don’t. I tried to care when Rondo called the ref a faggot and I couldn’t care about that either. These guys are grown men and if they want to go on national television and make fools of themselves then that’s on them. All they’re doing is alienating fans. I won’t lose any sleep over it and you shouldn’t either.

Besides, I’d be lying if I said the video wasn’t kind of funny. You can see the wheels turning inside that big dumb head of his right before he says it. He looked like Lenny from Of Mice In Men right before he killed the rabbits. I’ll stop there, but the guy’s clearly got rocks for brains. To his credit, Wendell Carter Jr. is a lengthy man – 6’10” with a 7’5″ wingspan (big hog), but it was still a dumb thing to say. Props to the NBA for recognizing that and issuing a fine. Now he knows that if he’s going to make “no homo”  jokes in the future, he has to do it under his breath like James Harden.
