Week 4 of the Spittin’ Chiclets College Hockey Rankings are here. Not a ton of changes, but we do have a new team in the top-10 this week, so let’s dive in.

Minnesota Duluth is your #1 team in the nation yet again. The Bulldogs had the weekend off but will face off against Colorado College this weekend, then will head to #7 Denver the weekend after for a huge matchup against the Pios who won both their games this past weekend against Western Michigan. The Pios have #5 St. Cloud State this weekend on the road, which will be Denver’s first real tough matchup of the year. I’m excited to see how David Carle and his boys do against some actual competition being that they haven’t lost yet.

Providence comes in at #2 this week, one spot up from last week. The Friars had a 3-0 win over Holy Cross on Saturday and will head to Amherst this weekend to face off against #5 Massachusetts. This is probably the best Minuteman team we have seen ever, so if you have the opportunity to head out to the Mullins Center this weekend to see two Hockey East power houses go head to head, I highly suggest you do.

Notre Dame drops from #2 to #3 this week after a 1-1 weekend with Ohio State. You can’t knock the Irish too much losing to a good team like OSU, let’s see how the bounce back this week against Michigan. The Irish lost 1-0 on Friday night and won 2-1 on Saturday.

Now, a lot of people are going to say Penn State shouldn’t be in the top-10 after losing to Arizona State this past weekend and to those people I say you’re foolish. ASU is better than people think and actually have a decent program going over there in the desert. The Nittany Lions won 6-5 on Friday night and lost in OT on Saturday night on a Johnny Walker breakaway goal. Penn State will have Robert Morris this weekend, let’s see how they bounce back.

North Dakota comes in at #10 this week and is the new school to the top-10 this season. NoDak has won 4 straight, two against Minnesota then two against Wisco this past weekend. Not only did they beat Wisco, they spanked them Friday night 5-0 then played them close on Saturday, winning 3-2. The Sioux have Miami of Ohio this weekend, then Western Michigan, then Alaska Anchorage, if they can continue to pile up some W’s, I think NoDak can make some noise this season. Shoutout to Rhett Gardner on the hatty too.
