As Much As I Hate To Say This, It's Time For The Flyers To Be More Like The Browns

NHL: OCT 25 Flyers at Bruins

The dictionary defines the term “rock-bottom” as the following–any time a team or an individual can look at the current state of the Cleveland Browns as an upgrade.

Well, my friends, the Philadelphia Flyers have officially hit rock bottom. Because it’s now been close to 48 hours since the team got their dicks kicked in by the Islanders at home on Saturday afternoon. This team is currently in year 4 of the Dave Hakstol era and to call this team mediocre over the course of this era is disrespectful to any mediocre teams who have ever come before them. This is a lifeless team that has done nothing but push their fans away over the last few years. This is a disastrous club that has done nothing but rob those few still remaining fans every time they purchase tickets to go to a game, because they consistently look like they are terrified to play at the Wells Fargo Center. They always seem unprepared, overwhelmed, and outworked. There are quite literally zero arguments that anybody could make right now to justify why Dave Hakstol is still the head coach of this hockey team. But ~48 hours after losing the the John Tavares-less Islanders by a score of 6-1 on Saturday, this team has done absolutely nothing in terms of a response that shows that this type of shit is unacceptable on an organizational level. Nothing. They sent Vorobyev to the AHL and have called up Aube-Kubel and Goulbourne. That’s it. This team is a fucking train wreck and all they’ve done is swap a few rookies around.

Now it may have taken the Cleveland Browns a little longer than necessary to fire Hue Jackson. Kind of weird that any professional sports team would bring back a coach who had just previously gone winless the year before. But that’s besides the point. Because today they finally “sacked up” and did what they should have done a while ago, told him to pack his shit and kicked him to the curb. They didn’t make a few minor moves that only impacts the bottom of the roster. They didn’t just let some bullshit excuses made in the locker room serve as assurance that the team is going to figure out a way to turn things around. They made a decision to fire the coach and now they get to move on in a different direction. They knew it wasn’t going to work with the current coaching staff, and now they’re moving on.

The Philadelphia Flyers should be ashamed of themselves right now. Ron Hextall should be ashamed of himself right now. The Cleveland Browns are in a better spot right now than the Philadelphia Flyers because at least they get to move on from the insanity. At least they were willing to admit to themselves that they fucked up by hiring the wrong people, and can now move on to focus on hiring the right people. Goddammit I hate this team.
