The New York Post Scared Me To Death Making Me Think John Sterling Died During Last Night's Game

Jesus Christ New York Post try wording a tweet anyway worse than this, you can’t. Now this blog is not to dishonor Hank Greenwald, a Syracuse alum and broadcasting legend, at all, but you cannot throw the word death and 80 year old John Sterling around in the same sentence. Especially while I’m forced to watch the Red Sox win Game 1 of the World Series. My night was already horrible, but Sterling dying would’ve sent me over the edge.

Greenwald was before my time, and called the Yankees on radio for two seasons in 1987 and 1988. He was way more known for his work with the San Francisco Giants than the Yankees. You just cannot throw around ‘Yankees radio voice’ and death and John Sterling and expect my heart not to stop. I didn’t need that. What’s sad is this is definitely how John is going to go. He’s 80 and has no plans to quit calling the Yankee games on the radio. He hasn’t missed one since he came on full-time almost forty years ago which is just insane in itself. He’s most certainly going to die doing what he loves and he wouldn’t have it any other way. I guess last night we got a taste of what that terrible feeling will feel like. Clean it up New York Post.
