The Russian Gas Has Guys Scoring Game Winners From The Red Line In The KHL
I have been saying it for weeks now. The Russian Gas is becoming a problem in the hockey world. Last week, we had some nobody going behind the back and scoring an unbelievable highlight reel goal, this week it’s a 34-year-old defenseman scoring game winners on 120mph shots from the red line.
Andrei Kuteikin of FC Spartak Moscow scored this game winner on Monday night against UHC Dynamo Moscow. An absolute missile from the red line beat the goalie late in the 3rd period to put FC Spartak Moscow up 3-2, where they would eventually hold on to win.
The crazy part about all of this? This guy does it all the time. Legitimately multiple times per season. The guys did it like 3 times in the playoffs just last season.
Now, is there a single person on the planet that can sit there with a straight face and try to tell me that this guy isn’t pumping the Russian Gas straight into his blood every single game. Probably every period in the playoffs. The goalies aren’t that bad in the KHL, they aren’t the best, but they aren’t bad enough where they should be getting lit up from the red line multiple times a season.
You can get lucky once MAYBE twice scoring from the red line at the professional level. But this guy seems to do it all the time, so I’m calling shenanigans. If this guy was somewhat decent and could actually shoot the puck 115 mph, he’d be playing in the NHL. But noooo, he needs the Russian Gas.
And honestly, if I was playing in Russia, I would absolutely be housing this stuff in between periods. I’d take as much as my body would allow me to take plus a little more. Playing in the KHL sucks bad enough as it is, you might as well pump some gas into you so you are at least making the big bucks over there.
