The Most Ridiculous Stat Of The NFL Season Is That Todd Gurley Has Scored More Points Than The Buffalo Bills

There are certain stats that just stop you dead in your tracks. LeBron’s statistical greatness over the last decade, every Barry Bonds season from 1998-on, whatever random piece of trivia from Tony Gwynn’s career you want to throw at me. All of those make my brain hurt and cause me to do the confused dog sideways head turn.

And seeing Todd Gurley has scored more points than the entire Buffalo Bills franchise so far this season is on that list above anything Pat Mahomes or Adam Thielen or anyone else is doing because I legitimately had to pause and look up the Bills and Gurley’s numbers after seeing that tweet.

Lets grab our TI-83 and look at the Bills games:

Add in two 2-point conversions for Gurley in the game where the Rams lost their kicker because Legatron got hurt.

Yup, it checks out and it’s fucking crazy. Look I get that Todd Gurley is a great offensive player. Ask any Gurley fantasy owner and they will talk about him the same way the parent of a doctor that also practices law and volunteers as a firefighter during his spare time talks about their kid. And I know the Bills are a next level awful offensive team. You know shit is bad when your coach keeps going back to the tape so he can find an excuse to use Nathan Peterman to the point where the front office signs Derek Anderson to start so there isn’t a full-blown locker room mutiny. But one great player on a great offensive team with a bunch of other weapons outscoring an entire TEAM with a great defense, a kicker, special teams, and any other way you can score points including an offense with Shady McCoy is ludicrous.

To be honest, when Sean McVay is pulling jetsweeps, double reverses, and bombs to Brandin Cooks out of his ass, I forget that the best running back in football is standing behind Jared Goff. Then Gurley peels off a couple double digit yard runs and a long reception before finding paydirt yet again. And it’s not even like it’s that early in the season. We are going to have drunk assholes across the country dressing up in Halloween outfits during next Sunday’s game and at that point Gurley will still have more points than the entire Bills franchise. Just an absolutely stupid statistic. Thankfully the fanbase that has to live with the misery of it all is the only fanbase with shoulders strong enough to handle it.

Important reminder that despite Gurley’s greatness on the gridiron, nobody is perfect.
