It Feels Right That Brooks Koepka Became The No. 1 Ranked Golfer In The World (while everyone was sleeping)
So Brooks Koepka won in South Korea overnight. Several players mounted charges but Mr Cool finished with a final nine 29 (complete with a 72nd hole eagle) to win by 4. It’s Koepka’s third win in eleven starts which includes two major championships. Far too often we’ve seen a new no. 1 crowned by some complicated math and an unceremonious finish. Not this time.
This one feels right. When you win the last two majors, and three of the last seven, and win player of the year honors and accept it in a totally organic manner…
…and then win again in dominating fashion to kick off the new season, you damn well better be the no. 1 ranked player in the world. Because you are the best player in the world.
So it feels right that Brooks is world no. 1 and it feels even more right that he did it on the other side of the world while everyone was sleeping.
Congrats.
