It Is With A Heavy Heart That I Must Announce That "The Daily Auston" Ends Tonight

Pittsburgh Penguins v Toronto Maple Leafs

Well, folks, it was a fun run. 7 games. 10 goals. 6 assists. At least 2 points in each of those games. But for the first time in the 2018-19 NHL season, Auston Matthews has played in a hockey game and failed to record a point. It breaks my heart that it had to end this way but I guess that’s why they say all great things come to an end.

Hopefully now this causes the Toronto Maple Leafs to panic a little bit and they end up announcing a William Nylander re-signing tomorrow. Nobody has to be happier to see things finally not go Toronto’s way than Nylander. Not that he’s that type of guy and I’m sure he’s always rooting for the boys. But the longer that Auston Matthews kept this streak going, the lighter Nylander’s wallet was becoming. Kind of hard to demand $8 million out of a team when Matthews and Tavares are pitching in for 5 goals a night. Did Auston Matthews throw this game tonight purposefully so that he could get his good buddy Willy paid? It wouldn’t shock me. He seems like he’s ferda boys like that.

But yeah. Helluva run for AM34. Kind of sucks that the blog series has to end because it was pretty easy content. Daily content like that is hard to come around these days but this legend was providing it. Oh well. Until next time. Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.
