What The Fuck

Divisional Round - Boston Red Sox v New York Yankees - Game Three

TL;DR: Murphy’s Law: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

That’s what just happened in The Bronx. I mean what a fucking disaster. What just happened? What did I just watch?

Severino never had it. There were rumors he was late to the bullpen not knowing the actual start time, but that was denied after the game. Regardless, he was terrible. Update: Sevy didn’t know and was late to the bullpen. His slider never came close to the zone for the Sox to chase. Sox hitters just laid off of it and sat on his fastball. His fastball command was off, and the only pitch he had was his changeup. Whenever he got ahead of batters with two strikes he proceeded to leave the ball right over the heart of the plate ready to get teed up. After three innings he was lucky to have only given up three runs and that should have been his night right there. Boone should never have allowed him to go back out there for the 4th, but his brain broke allowing him to do just that. Single, single, walk to start the inning caused Boone to finally pull him. Gee Boone, you think that was enough? Fucking moron. To this point Boone was managing the postseason perfectly in my opinion, but his brain just stopped working in the 4th inning here.

Quick Note: As I’m typing this Austin Romine is pitching. The Yankees backup catcher. Pitching. In the postseason.

Who did Boone bring out of the bullpen? Chad Green? He was warming up so that was a good guess! Nope, Lance fucking Lynn was brought in with the bases loaded and nobody out with the game hanging on by a thread. Four pitches later, Mookie Betts had walked, making it 4-0. Five pitches after that, Benintendi broke open the game with a bases clearing double. By the end of the inning it was 10-0. TEN NOTHING IN THE FOURTH INNING. What a fucking joke. All the momentum after winning in Fenway on Saturday and it all went down the drain with this one.

The Bronx was silent, Severino didn’t rise to the occasion, and Boone’s brain broke. In hindsight I wish I didn’t write the blogs about the Yankees bringing the noise tonight, but hindsight is stupid. 16-1. Austin Romine pitched in the 9th inning. I mean it was as big a disaster as you could have scripted.

The good news? It’s baseball. You can come out tonight with CC Sabathia on the mound and tie this series up again and force a Game 5. I hope everyone looks each other in the eye tonight and locks the fuck in knowing what just happened. That was flat out embarrassing, but I don’t hear no fat lady. Don’t give up, just respond. I wouldn’t want anyone else on the mound other than CC tonight. Tonight sucked. It was downright awful. Turn the page, and win today. It’s all you can do. Look each other in the eye and don’t let today be the end.
