We Need More Nights Like Last Night In The NHL

If you’re a hockey fan, it didn’t get much better than Sunday night in the NHL. A total of 32 goals scored in three games. What is better than that? The league is becoming faster and faster every year and the talent level is at an all-time high. Each team has a star, some teams have multiple. The one problem is the NHL does a poor job of showing off their stars, but last night they didn’t need to. The stars of the league took it into their own hands.

Patrick Kane and Auston Matthews put on a show last night. Matthews scored first and did Patrick Kane’s usual celly, then Patrick Kane scored and returned the favor and like Biz said in the clip below, basically says not in my barn you fuck head, this is my arena and my celly.

These are the things you have been seeing in the NBA for the past 15 or so years that has helped the league sky rocket. It’s all in good fun, you can see both players smiling. But the public chirping and letting all the fans and social media in on it is huge.

Imagine being at this game? How fired up would you be after Kane scored and did the exact celly as a giant fuck you to Kane. It would be awesome. And this is what hockey needs more of. It gets people talking, it gets posted all over social media, it gets people who usually don’t watch the game or people who aren’t interested in the game to say ”hmmm maybe I should check this out.”

I say it all the time. The NBA is a joke of a league, but the NHL could learn a thing or two from those guys on how to market themselves and how to get people talking about the game. Patrick Kane and Auston Matthews did just that last night.
