PHILLY – The Phillies closed out their spring training schedule in Florida with more errors than hits in their final two games, both shutout losses. Fortunately for them, they can hit the reset button when the regular season opens Monday. While A.J. Burnett threw five strong innings, the Phillies offense mustered one hit and their defense committed two errors in a 3-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday at Bright House Field. In a 1-0 loss to the Tigers on Wednesday, the Phillies had two hits and two errors.
2nd game in a row with more errors than hits? Talk about production! Putting that 3rd highest payroll in the league to great use early. But I see you, Phils. Saving those runs and overall effort for when it matters. Don’t let that league worst 9-17 Spring Training record fool you. When this team gets going they’re not going to stop till they’re dead, which sadly won’t be far behind.
Phillies have 2 games at CBP tomorrow and Saturday before traveling to Texas to face the Rangers in the season opener on Monday. Vegas has the O/U on wins right now at 76. I think we all know what you should be hammering.
