It's Just So Beautiful: The Caps Names Are Officially Engraved On The Stanley Cup
Honestly, I still can’t believe it. Like, I don’t know if I’ll ever completely “get over” the Caps winning the Cup. It’s legit all I’ve wanted since I can remember. I remember sitting at a table in 4th grade art class with two friends and we would talk about the Caps winning the Cup. For the majority of my life, the Caps have always been pretty good, and always came up short. And then this last year happened and I still kinda just can’t believe it. Coming back from 2-0 vs Columbus. Beating the Pens in 6 in Pittsburgh. Winning game 7 in Tampa. And then winning in 5 vs Vegas. It’s just crazy. It was so fun to blog it along the way, to go to games, and to watch the Summer-long celebration. And now their names are officially on the Cup, and will be on the Cup for decades to come. It’s nuts. When your number 1 team wins it all, I’m not sure there’s a feeling for it. And since it’s only happened this 1 time in my adult life (I don’t really remember those Skins Super Bowls, and I was in 8th grade when the Terps won in basketball), it just feels extra special. To see my favorite athlete of all time, Ovi, lift the Cup still gives me the shivers. And now his name is etched on it. Right in the “he’ll never make it out of the 2nd round” peoples faces.
