Turns Out The Top Secret Phone That Samsung Has Been Working On For The Past Five Years Is Just A Flip Phone With Bendy Glass

Source –  While the Galaxy S10 looks very special indeed, Samsung has something much more exciting (and a lot more expensive) coming very soon. Unfortunately, it won’t be anything like the release you were expecting…

Since traditional makers of tough glass, like Corning, cannot produce flexible panels, Samsung had to develop a ‘polyimide transparent plastic film’ (a flexible and durable clear adhesive) to bond to the folding glass instead.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect to the Galaxy F launch (despite repeated delays), is Samsung’s confidence in the phone. Samsung’s Mobile Division CEO DJ Koh has been particularly vocal in recent months saying “It’s time to deliver” and stressing the company wants to be first to market.

Of course, as any Apple fan will tell you, being first to market is far less important than bringing the product to market when it’s fully realised.

That said, with Samsung hinting the Galaxy F could be unveiled as early as November, the company deserves the benefit of the doubt.

So it’s a flip phone without the hinge that doesn’t stay shut? Got it. I’m sure it’ll be comfortable in your pocket, too. Seems like the perfect invention to keep people from buying the iPhone. Not facial recognition, not improved speakers or a battery that lasts more than two hours…a bendy screen. Makes sense. It’s not like they’ve been talking about it since 2012. Oh wait, yes they have.

In fact, Samsung’s has been talking about making a phone with bendy glass for the past five-plus years, it’s just never gained traction because it’s a TERRIBLE IDEA.

They should’ve just focused on changing the color of bubbles instead of  trying to reinvent glass. My brother tried texting me from his Samsung the other day and the second I saw the green bubbles I deleted his number. My entire family stopped talking to him. He needed to be excommunicated from the family for us to be able to uphold our reputation as non-trash citizens.

Anyway, they haven’t released any official photos yet, only mock ups so who knows if it’ll actually come out in November as expected. People are saying it’s going to look like this drawing.

Sick. I’m sure the phone has all sorts of features that are way better than the iPhone but the bendy glass is not one of them.
