Are Wasps Anti-Semitic Because They Murder Bees And Don't Make Any Honey Even Though They're Basically Also Bees?
New York Post – Bees and wasps are two very different creatures. Bees are friendly little fellas that give us honey and might maybe leave a welt on your arm if you happen to cross into their personal space. Wasps, on the other hand, are nasty, aggressive fight-starters who come flying out of your Pepsi can to sting you right in the eyeball and then laugh about it.
That’s the public perception that scientists are now trying to change.
As BBC News reports, researchers are noticing a dramatic shift in the way bees are perceived when compared to wasps, but they’re warning that both types of insects are vitally important to the environment, even if one of them seems to be more rude than the other.
We’re currently living in an era of reporting where you pretty much have to triple check everything you read to get the whole story. You could talk to 100 people and 100 of them would have a different opinion about which media organizations present the most pure, unbiased versions of the world’s happenings. It’s a dangerous time to be a consumer, no matter where your political or religious beliefs lie.
Scientists and BBC news want you to believe that we’ve got it all wrong about wasps; that to treat them differently from the way we treat their stinging brethren of the honey making variety is not only unfair but potentially detrimental to our environment.
Guess what idiots? Have you seen the news? Nobody cares about the environment, and wasps sting you. It hurts. You think people are gonna believe your childish propaganda and start tending to wasp nests and buying tickets to see a movie about a talking wasp voiced by Jerry Seinfeld falling in love with Renee Zellweger because of one research project and a few lazy journalistic attempts published on websites that no one reads? Let’s talk a little bit about the reality of the situation at hand.

I mean you tell me. What are they after? They don’t like honey. They’re not trying to fuck the queen bee like the 30,000 bees they massacred. It’s pure unwarranted violence against a large population simply because they might be harboring a ton of jealousy for the bee’s undeniable evolutionary success due to years of natural selection. Sound familiar?

According to 24/7 Pest Control, Wasps do not produce honey, nor have they ever been quoted acknowledging the fact that both bees and the honey they produce are thoroughly integrated into the holiest piece of Jewish literature, the Torah. Those are just the facts. The single article I read did go on to say that some wasps and hornets do eat honey, but to me that kinda just makes it worse. That’s the bee’s honey that tens of thousands of workers died in order to properly cultivate. Again, it sounds a lot more like a case of some bullies with a false sense of superiority than it does a story about a species of insects, very similar to bees, who’ve somehow earned a bad reputation due to a small percentage of wasps acting out and committing horrible crimes against humanity and also bees.

As a half-Jew who attended somewhere between 5-7 years of after-school Hebrew lessons at my local synagogue, I feel comfortable speaking on the significance of honey in my religion. Jews fucking love honey. It’s pretty simple. We eat it on Rosh Hashanah when we celebrate the beginning of the new year on the Jewish calendar. We dip apples in it, we dip bread in it, we spread it on the Torah to teach little kids to associate studying with a sweet, sticky reward (very different from how they teach that same concept in Catholic schools across the globe). Honey’s importance to Jews is undeniable.
So the question now becomes, does not acknowledging or respecting honey as the holy delicacy it is make wasps, or any species or group for that matter, anti-semitic? I’d love to hear someone tell me otherwise. For those of you keeping track in your test booklets, through 3 questions we’ve landed on “true” all 3 times. By any journalistic standards, the evidence is starting to add up against the so-called “misunderstood” wasps that seem bent on conquering the rest of the insect population.
I don’t know, maybe I’m the bully here. Maybe I’m exaggerating all of this with little to no actual evidence to support my claim and simply using this blog as a way to express my hatred for wasps simply because I’m pissed off that they’re getting articles written about them and I’m not, and calling them anti-semitic makes absolutely no sense whatsover once you consider the facts.
