John Tavares, Already Looking Pretty Dang Good As A Maple Leaf
Granted it’s the preseason and granted it’s against the Ottawa Senators who are going to be looking like a preseason team all year long. But John Tavares is playing (preseason) game #1 in a Toronto Maple Leafs uniform and that $11M contract is already starting to get paid off. It’s going to be scary as shit if JT continues to be that money from in front of the net on the powerplay all year long. James van Riemsdyk made a living in front of the net there for Toronto on the powerplay and somehow the Leafs managed to upgrade? Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares all on the PP? What a joke. That’s just silly talk right there.
I don’t want to blow up about this goal too much because I still have another blog to write when Tavares scores his first regular season goal as a Leaf. But 1 game 1 goal so far? Pretty decent numbers. I’m just glad as heck I’m not Frankie Borrelli right now. I’d probably have to jump off a bridge if I had to watch Tavares do this in another sweater. Holy shit I can’t even imagine what that would be like. Yikes. Pray for Isles fans this season. If you’re friends with any, make sure you reach out to them tonight and let them know you’re there to help. Nobody deserves to go through that alone.
