It's A Bad Year To Be A Hockey Net Because Shayne Gostisbehere Is Coming For That Ass

NHL: SEP 17 Preseason - Islanders at Flyers

Preseason hockey is what it is. I will say this that the one thing that makes it better than preseason football is that half the guys you see out there on the ice aren’t going to get cut from the organization entirely. Most of the guys you’re watching out there will either be starting the season in the AHL or going back to their junior team after a few more games or whatever. So at least when you’re watching preseason hockey, you get to get excited about your farm system instead of just watching a bunch of guys you’ll never hear from again. But yeah, it’s tough to put too much stock in the preseason. Unless, of course… unless we’re talking about Shayne Gostisbehere and the absolute rampage this sicko is about to embark on this season.

Fucking. Rocket. I know it got deflected on its way to the net but think about how goddamn hard Ghost clapped that one for the puck to hit a body on the way to the net and still end up getting shot out of a cannon from the back of the net. I felt that one from my apartment and it sent the more glorious little tingle down in my loins. It sure seems like Ghost Bear has hit shot dialed all the way in for this season. That’s always been his biggest issue so far. Shayne Gostisbehere has been the Fulton Reed of the Flyers. Dude can sling lasers out there but he usually only hits the net one out of every five. But he found the back of the net twice last night and if that’s going to be the case for the whole year, well then it is going to be a miserable, miserable season for the back of the net. Because Shayne Gostisbehere is going to murder you time and time again.

And it wasn’t even just the two bombs last night. We were getting the works from Ghost last night. Everything that makes this kid special. The zone exits. The diving keeps at the blueline. Stepping up from the point and driving to the net.

Like I said before–I know it’s just preseason and I don’t want to get too ahead of myself because of how good Shayne Gostisbehere looked in a game on September 17. But skill guys like Ghost just need confidence to do what they do best. As long as they’re trusting their own skills, they can go out there and treat every game like it’s the prom and they’re dancing everybody. 53 was looking pretty damn confident last night.

P.S. – Voracek’s stick seemed to be doing the trick for him last night. Hopefully he sticks with that for the year.
