What Are The Best Logos In Professional Sports?
I started thinking about this topic this morning as I was looking at different reports and stories across the internet. So to make it easier, I’m going to separate it by the 4 major sports. There are just way too many teams in college so we’ll leave that out for now, but Texas has a strong case for the favorite there. Now, I’m using current, primary logos only. You can’t have a secondary logo or anything of the past. So with that in mind, let’s get to it.
NBA – Milwaukee Bucks
Maybe a bit controversial here, but I love the Bucks logo. It reminds me of the Bulls (a close runner-up) but the subtle look of the antlers connecting to look like a basketball gives it the edge to me. I also low-key love the color scheme of grey and green. It’s tough to pull off the grey look in most logos or jerseys, but it looks great here. Also notice the M in the lower half of the logo? Wonderful little Easter egg.
NFL – Buffalo Bills
Again, I know most people will say the Raiders (2nd for me) or the Cowboys. But, not me. The Bills deserve to win at something and they win my NFL power ranking logo. The blue and red color scheme is always A+ and the charging Bills logo makes them look intimidating. The only thing that they can improve? Throw Josh Allen’s face on the Bill. I do love that it’s not cartoonish looking and the red stripe is a nice touch.
MLB – Baltimore Orioles
Switching back to the cartoon bird logo gives the Orioles the edge over the Yankees – finally. The color scheme is wonderful as it’s tough to top black and orange for a color scheme. The little smirk that the bird is giving you like he knows that Jeffrey Maier cheated is A+ too. Perhaps it looks better on the hat with the Baltimore script across the jersey, but this is the best logo in baseball and maybe in all of sports.
NHL – Detroit Red Wings
A big time two-team race between the Red Wings and Blackhawks here. I’m giving the slightest of edges to the Red Wings because it’s so unique. I love the ode to Detroit with the wheel and then obviously the wings. Red and white continues to be a strong colorway, especially as you have ‘Red’ in the name of the team. The outline of the second wing is a nice touch as is the alternating red and white on the wheel.
