Remembering The First Mass Gathering Of Americans After 9/11 - WWF SmackDown

Above are videos from the first mass gathering of Americans that took place after September 11th, 2001, in Houston, Texas at a special broadcast of ‘WWF SmackDown!’ just two days after the attack on the World Trade Center.

You may or may not have seen them in the past, depending on whether or not you’re a professional wrestling fan, because while this event was pretty historically important, it’s largely – and ironically – forgotten. But I don’t think it should be, because it’s such a beautiful and inspiring display of patriotism that I don’t believe it should ever reach “underrated” status. So maybe this year is the start of tradition – that tradition being posting clips from the September 13th, 2001 edition of SmackDown once a year on this unfortunate anniversary.

Almost ten years later, John Cena was able to break the news of Osama Bin Laden’s death to a sold-out WWE audience, and I’m posting that here as well, because fuck Osama Bin Laden.

Listen to the man that shot him tell Large and Willie how it was done below.
