Australian Newspaper Publishes Very Racist Cartoon of Serena Williams Crying At The US Open

YIKES. Mark Knight of the Herald Sun actually thought that image would play in 2018? How? There had to have been one other person he had to go through to approve that image, no?  Portraying Serena like she’s in the Jim-Crow era might not be the best move in today’s world, I don’t know maybe I’m just crazy. Let’s check out that ratio…

Not only does it disrespect the fuck out of Serena, but making Osaka look like some random blonde chick talking to the umpire? The girl just won the US Open as the first Japanese player ever, guy or girl, and you stuck her in the background like she was a random first round opponent no one had ever heard of. I can’t imagine watching that whole event ensue on Saturday and making that cartoon out of it. How do you not make the umpire the center of attention at fault and rip on him? J.K. Rowling chimed in and wasn’t happy.

The Herald Sun has not removed the image and the author of the cartoon doubled down saying it wasn’t sexist because he did a Nick Kyrgios cartoon just the week before.
