CHICAGO (WLS) — A man who had just been demoted at work shot the company’s CEO before turning the gun on himself, according to Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy.  The shooting occurred on the 17th floor inside the Bank of America Building, located at 231 South LaSalle Street in Chicago’s Loop, around 9:50 a.m. The building is now secure and open for business, but Chicago police remain on the scene.

The employee, a 59-year-old man, was pronounced dead of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at the scene. The CEO, a 54-year-old man, was transferred in critical condition to Northwestern Hospital by ambulance. Police have not released the name of the victim or the company. McCarthy said the offender had a one-on-one meeting with the CEO when shots were fired. “Ten witnesses up there who were on the floor are being interviewed,” McCarthy said. No one was actually inside the room when the shooting occurred.  Workers in the building were originally told to stay in their offices. They were given the all clear around 10:45 a.m. However, the scene remains active.

Not really a normal Barstool blog here but thought it needed to be mentioned quickly because this just went down in our backyard. I know everyone joke’s all the time about how much they hate their boss and job and this and that. But this is fucked up. Fuck this guy. The world doesn’t need to be like this. Now cue all of the “typical Chiraq” comments or whatever. Hopefully the guy who was shot pulls through here.
