[Syracuse.com] - “I mean, he made a mistake. It doesn’t do any good to talk about it,” he said. “Everybody thinks I’m criticizing him. I’m not. I’m just telling it like it is. He made a mistake. He should own it. He’s just not ready. He’s just not physical. They’re not letting him play in the G League because he’d get killed.”

The only difference here between Dave Portnoy and Jim Boeheim is Dave Portnoy would talk about it. He’d talk about it all over the place – radio, Rundown, Twitter. That’s just the difference between a great leader and a good coach, I guess.

I mean, they sound the same here. You make a mistake – a pathetic headline, not getting a blog up, etc., you own it. You’re not ready. You go to blogging school. I’m pretty sure that’s what Boeheim is yelling about here. He’s ready to send Darius Bazley to blogging school since the G League (let’s be honest, Deadspin is probably the G League) isn’t an option.

Now, to focus on Bazley/Boeheim for a second – I don’t blame Jim here. He was counting on Bazley, who had a change of heart late in the process and left Syracuse without a rotation player for the year. This is a team that really doesn’t use a ton of its bench, so adding someone like Bazley (along with everyone returning) was a big boost for a team that is ranked in the bottom of the top-25/just out vs a team that would have been top-20ish.

Bazley decided to not play in the G League a few weeks back, which caused people to question the decision all along. I get the idea of not wanting to play in the G League now. He was going to likely be the top pick in the G League draft, sending him to a bad team. From there he’d have to be one of the go-to guys going up against men that are all fighting for NBA jobs. A bad showing there and he drops in the draft. At least during workouts that prevents the complete freefall and you keep the intrigue, workouts + old game film around.

Either way, I’ll see you in Headlines 102 at 10am, Darius.
