Who Knew The 'Friends' Theme Made For Such Great Wrestling Entrance Music?

Over the weekend, at Fight Club Pro in England, the BruiserM8s – a team consisting of WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne, Millie McKenzie, and former WWE NXT Tag Team Champion Trent Seven – came out to the ring to the sound of a very familiar tune, and holy shit…it worked! That’s right, “I’ll Be There For You” by The Rembrandts, more commonly just referred to as the ‘Friends’ theme, was the team’s war cry before battle, and the crowd ate it up!

One of the many beautiful things about professional wrestling as a storytelling platform is that when done right, you should never need any words to explain the dynamic of a team. Just from their walk down the aisle alone, you should know that they’re all about, whether you’re in the front row pressed up against the entranceway, or whether you’ve got the worst seat in the building…and with these three, you get it right away. The ‘Friends’ theme works perfectly to accentuate their dynamic, while waking the crowd up and getting them excited for this BruiserM8s match – it’s just a dumb little thing that is fundamentally brilliant when broken down and dissected. I love it.

Now somebody’s gotta come out to the theme to ‘The Office’ to see if the crowd sings along like they do for Shinsuke Nakamura’s entrance.

If you’ve never seen it, please enjoy my favorite independent wrestling entrance ever, made by Gradoberg at ICW’S Shug’s Hoose Party show four years ago…
